![]() The impact shocked me and the pain was there. I hit a little bump, spun off and fell backward right on the back of my head. It’s a blue and I’ve rode it many many times. Last year on our annual snowboarding trip to Utah, I was coming down the slope like usual. Ok, didn’t want to be the one odd ball, I started to wear a helmet. Other family friends all ask their kids to do so, so are the parents themselves. I started to wear a helmet when I started snowboarding with my family and kids. Small slips and falls here and there, but no major incidents. I rode through my 20s and 30s, nothing big ever happened. Just like riding a bike to your corner store, putting on a helmet just wasn’t the first thing came into your mind. Back then, wearing a helmet wasn’t that big of a deal. It’s the smart and the safe thing to do so duck being cool I believe everyone should wear one, even the pros but until they do, it’s not the “cool” thing to do. I’ve been snowboarding since I could shit in a toilet and stand on my own all the while wearing a helmet when doing it. I’ve worn one for longer than you’ve known what snowboarding is. There’s a reason pro models exist it’s bc people want to emulate them.Ĥ: again bc you don’t like to listen, point 1 or 3 is to condone not wearing a helmet. In Lacrosse Paul Rabel (or however you spell it) made the mirrored visor cool in a commercial and that summer every kid had the same one. Victor Cruise legit made salsa dancing THE celebration if you scored a touchdown in the tristate for a decade for any high schooler. since then every kid had his hair, spicy gloves and his visor. In what sport do pro does things or wear things that everyone thinks is lame? Odell Beckham legit made a hair style and color visors cool again bc no one wore them since LT. To further prove my point, I will reiterate point 1: all the pros don’t wear them. I said it’s a fact it looks cooler, otherwise the pros would wear them in their feature films.Ģ: I’ve said multiple times I fucking wear a helmet you half baked inbred, stop seeing what you want and Reeing and actually address my pointsģ: you’re entitled to think they’re stupid, I’m saying your opinion doesn’t match reality, which is okay we all have opinions like this. One last time, I wasn’t asking abt the safety, I was asking about whether it was cool or not, like I said idk anything abt snowboarding but promotional videos make it seem like no one actually wears helmets.ġ: never said it sexy but feel free to put words in my mouth lol. Now, I’m beginning to understand, will def wear a helmet, thanks guys.Īlso, mass downvoting someone cuz they give an opinion on a different perspective isn’t cool, a lot of the comments that were downvoted were ones that actually answered the question rather just say “do you want to eat through a tube? Then wear a helmet” but I also appreciate you guys for looking out for each other’s safety. That’s why I thought it might’ve been less common than I thought. Also, I understand the dangers of snowboarding, it’s just kind of hard to see things for what it is when a bunch of top snowboarding vids feature people riding with no helmets. If I went out as a noob with no helmet and kept falling it would look worse than if I just wore one. From what I’m understanding going out with no helmet is reserved for pros. I was wondering whether it’s common for people to wear helmets? Is it like biking in that casual biker don’t wear helmets while pros do? On average what percent of people wear them?Įdit: a lot of comments to respond to so I’ll add this. ![]() Looking to get into snowboarding, unfortunately I know nearly nothing about the culture. r/SkiBuddies (Find people to ride with!)
